How do I get started with Lumicademy?
Getting started is simple! First, choose the Learning Pathway that best aligns with your interests and goals, whether that is writing, language learning, or another guided experience. Then select a schedule and learning format that fits your needs. From there, you'll be matched with a Luminary who will help guide and support your personalized learning journey.
What does a lesson look like?
Learning with Lumicademy is interactive, personalized, and guided through real conversation and collaboration. Our structured courses are developed by experts and are built around your goals. Your Luminary will provide live feedback, mentorship, and guidance while helping illuminate real-world understanding.
Where Can I Download the Lumicademy App?
Lumicademy's App was built specifically for virtual learning. Unlike other online learning services our app was built expressly for keeping students engaged and involved with their learning. It's one of the ways that Lumicademy keeps students’ love of learning going. You can access the app via the web or download to your preferred platform.
How long are courses?
Lumicademy Pathways are designed to fit your schedule and goals. Course lengths can vary depending on Pathway you’re on, your learning goals, how large your cohort is, and more. You can learn more about each Pathway’s options on its specific page.
How long are individual class sessions?
Classes typically last around one to two hours, though flexible scheduling options are available depending on your goals, availability, and preferred learning experience.

What is a Luminary?
Luminaries are the foundation of the Lumicademy experience. More than traditional instructors or tutors, Luminaries are mentors and guides who help learners discover their interests, develop meaningful skills, and connect learning to real-world experiences. At Lumicademy, learning is about more than mastering a subject, it’s about finding direction and illuminating new possibilities.
What makes Luminaries qualified?
Our Luminaries are experienced educators, mentors, professionals, and native speakers passionate about helping learners grow through guided experiences. Beyond subject expertise, Luminaries focus on building confidence, creativity, communication, and real-world understanding through personalized mentorship and support.

How is learning language at Lumicademy different?
At Lumicademy language learning is about more than just understanding, it’s about illuminating experiences. Lumicademy focuses on practical communication, cultural understanding, and real-world conversation experiences rather than memorization alone. Through our courses you won’t just learn to speak a language, but to engage with people and culture.
Can language sessions be personalized to my goals?
Absolutely. Sessions can be tailored around travel, academics, professional communication, conversation practice, cultural exploration, test preparation, and more.
Which languages do you offer?
We offer over 100 languages, including popular choices like Spanish, French, Mandarin, German, Japanese, and low-density ones like Tok Pisin and Zulu. We can offer dialects and cultural contexts specific to your needs. An example is a group of Portuguese students, but some students need to learn Brazilian Portuguese whereas others need to learn European Portuguese. We can offer relevant and applicable Portuguese to both groups of students. Whether you're looking to learn a widely spoken language or a less common one, we have options to suit your needs.
Can I learn a specific dialect for a language?
Of course! We can provide dialects and cultural contexts specific to your needs. An example is a group of Portuguese students, but some students need to learn Brazilian Portuguese and culture whereas others need to learn European Portuguese and culture. We can offer relevant and applicable Portuguese to both groups of students.
Do you teach culture and etiquette too?
Absolutely. Language learning at Lumicademy includes cultural understanding, customs, etiquette, and real-world context to help learners illuminate experiences beyond vocabulary alone.
Can Lumicademy help prepare me for travel abroad?

What language class sizes are available?
We offer flexible learning formats designed around your goals, comfort level, and schedule. Choose from Solo (1-on-1 personalized guidance), Duo (2 learners), Group (3-6 learners), or Enterprise (custom larger groups). Each format allows for personalized support while creating different opportunities for collaboration and connection.
Writing Pathway
Do I need previous writing experience?
Not at all. Lumicademy’s Writing Pathway is designed for writers at every level, from complete beginners to experienced writers looking to grow their confidence, creativity, and storytelling skills.
What types of writing can I explore?
Depending on your interests and goals, learners may explore creative writing, storytelling, poetry, fiction, nonfiction, personal essays, scriptwriting, journaling, and more.
Is the Writing Pathway like a traditional school writing class?
No. Lumicademy’s Writing Pathway focuses on guided creativity, exploration, mentorship, and meaningful projects rather than rigid assignments or standardized classroom structures.
Will I receive feedback on my writing?
Yes. Luminaries provide personalized feedback, mentorship, and support throughout the writing process to help learners strengthen their voice, creativity, and confidence.
Will I be able to publish my work or have a portfolio?
Many learners use the Writing Pathway to develop finished stories, polished writing pieces, creative portfolios, or personal projects they feel proud to share. Your Luminary will help guide you and what the best steps for your work will be, whether that’s possible publication or portfolio building or even writing contests.
What writing class sizes are available?
The Writing Pathway offers one-on-one or group class options, with group classes capping at six students. The Writing Collective offers a 16-week learning experience in a collaborative environment. Our one-on-one Writing Journey is more flexible in its structure and pacing, providing individualized learning.
Pricing
How are courses priced?
Pricing is based on learning format, Pathway type, and group size. Lumicademy offers flexible options ranging from personalized 1-on-1 guidance to collaborative group learning experiences and custom enterprise solutions.
Do you offer group discounts?
Yes! No matter what Pathway you’re on, our plans offer savings for groups of two or more. For larger groups or custom requirements, our Enterprise plan offers tailored solutions with competitive pricing.
Technology Requirements
What technology do I need for online classes?
Learners will need a computer or device with a stable internet connection, webcam, and microphone. Lumicademy’s apps is designed to make collaboration, communication, and guided learning effective and engaging from anywhere.
Age Requirements
Is there an age limit? Are children allowed to enroll?
Lumicademy pathways are designed for learners of all ages. We generally recommend learners be at least elementary school age to fully engage with our virtual learning environment and guided sessions. Parental supervision is recommended for younger learners.
